The beaches are open this holiday season! So, already there’s a win over last year.
Speaking of last year, in 2020 Trident started the end of year trend of looking back at the previous year’s exhilarating articles. Essentially a way of recycling sustainably.
And similar to many classic sitcoms from the 80’s, 90’s and early 2000’s, the writers seemed to run out of ideas and therefore occasionally do entire episodes dedicated to thematic flashbacks. Even as an impressionable and naive child, Trident’s editor was able to sift through the pretentiousness and call such episodes for what they really were. Sheer unbridled laziness, which we subscribe to whole-heartedly. Indeed, the beginning of this paragraph was repeated almost verbatim from last year. And damn it – we feel good for doing it.

Nonetheless, without further ado; let’s get into 2021’s retrospective, shall we? Starting with this work of literacy genius, a no-holds barred expose on surfers and our egotism. The Top Five has been no slouch either, with lists of the most irritating locals, truthful facts about buying new surfboards to up your game and of course, with surfing’s debut at this year’s Olympic Games, there were a Top Five list of why it sucked. Indeed, the Poseidon Post tackled Olympic surfing in more detail in Part One and Two of Trident’s review of its debut.
In 2021, Trident launched the innovative tips, tweaks and tricks sub-section, where, er… our readers write in with novel approaches to surfing. The entire category is too brilliant to highlight any single letter, so read on here.

We also began our patented quizzes dedicated all to you, our dear readers. Check out what kind of surfer you may be as well as our the first in our interview series.
Also, although Surf Science was well represented in hard-hitting factual articles such as how to bleach your hair and saltwater scented snot, we also took the esoteric route once again with our 2021 surfing signs and astrology article.
Let’s wrap it up for today. Trident wishes you all a safe and happy Festive Season and a prosperous New Year. However, if you snake or drop in on us – we wish one or two of the minor plagues of Egypt upon you.
