Surf hats, magic tricks & propellers.

Surf tips

Surf hats protect your eyes, ears, skin and hair from the sun, cold water and various other nasty natural elements. But, as we all know – they look dorky as hell. However, I have a simple tip – simply stitch or paint the words “On Fleek” on your surf hat and you’ll be the coolest surfer out there. Unlike other slang that goes out of fashion quicker than the 1700’s tricorn hat did, “On Fleek” will no doubt be proven to be timeless. Groovy. Good Gravy, Cloud Cuckooland

You know how a magician’s most cliched magic trick is pulling a rabbit out of a hat? Well, just the other day I went hard over the falls onto a shallow ledge. I then pulled bits of shell and rock, sea urchin spines as well as part of my own spine out my arse and not a single person even applauded. The Great Stanko, Vegas

We surfers spend so much time in the sun. We should try harnessing the sun’s energy for alternative energy sources! Surely there’s a way to bring those heavy, ungainly solar panels with us when we paddle out; perhaps we can wear them like signboards – front and back? And maybe attach them to those heavy, ungainly solar batteries at the bottom of our surfboards? Come on science, must I think of everything! Cedric Unworthy, Peacockfontein

Great idea buddy! But we surfers also have massive exposure to wind as well! So let’s consider wind power as well. Wind power – not just for huge windmills on land! Maybe we can come up with somewhere to wear those huge propellers when we’re surfing? Like mounted on our heads or something? That would be so cool! Merry Goround, Mount Lame

Dear Merry Goround
A propeller mounted on your head can’t look any more ridiculous than a GoPro mounted on your head. There – I said it. Ruth Truth, Braveville
