The pro’s always talk about how cool it is surfing certain breaks during competitions, and only having two people in the water during heats. Therefore by golly, next J Bay Open I’m gonna paddle out during the final, with only two pro’s out and surf. What are they gonna do? Use harsh language? Arrest me? Shoot me? Nuke the break? Naai A List, Nzietchefontein
So prior to J Bay, pro’s and spectators alike were bemoaning the pretty average to poor conditions for the last few events. In particular, the shorter waiting period, ie – at G-Land. So why not extend each event’s waiting period to a year. Guaranteed each event will have the best possible waves then. Or better yet, make the waiting period say 5 years. Methuselah, Ballie Bay
People always say “the circus comes to town” when the J Bay Open is on. I say, with those all temporary big domes and tents and stuff it looks like the circus has come to town. Penny Wise, Derry
When running dual heats at J Bay (or wherever for that matter), why don’t the judges really make it more of a lottery and get all four competitors to wear a white vest? Coz they may as well do so, when as I type this there are two surfers in the current dual heats both wearing white vests. #dumbass. Robin Poppingsack, Ball Bay
Perhaps the only reason surfing may not be a spectator-dependent sport is the lamentable lack of those big foam finger glove things. Possibly throwing a shaka. In fact… we’re #copyrighting that. You saw it here first folks, note the date – any potential multimillion dollar idea-thieves. Trident Surf, tridentsurf
