Toenails, surf schools & cowboy hats.

Has anyone else ever noticed how the Hurley logo strongly resembles two fingernail clippings placed side by side? Inspector Baboon, Scotland Yard

Dear Inspector Baboon
You, Sir – have raised an interesting point. For that matter, the Rip Curl logo, the Billabong logo and pretty much every surf brand utilising a stylised illustration of a wave in their logo closely resembles a fingernail clipping. Or a crescent moon. Elementary I tell you. Although the Quiksilver logo rather resembles a UFO getting intimate with a severely drunk PacMan. Sherlock Surflock, Holmes Homes

These so-called “surf schools” are an absolute bloody racket I tell you. I took my son and daughter to one the other day, and as far as I know they learned precisely diddly squat about calculus, geometry, trigonometry and history. Ein Beerstein, Prince Albert

Let’s be honest. Those peaked surf hats – as well as the floppy-brimmed hats look really silly – but are surely effective in reducing sunburn and glare. Therefore, I am gonna start wearing my cowboy hat in the water. Tex Arse, Texas

We may not have learned this in surf school, but  black is the colour that absorbs all of the sun’s rays and thus its heat. So, why, oh WHY – surf brands – WHY black surfboard bags? Science bro. Marmalade van der Merwe, Fictional Bay
